Box breathing is a tool that I use a lot to help me in many situations. Sleep, focus, meeting new people.
Box breathing is a simple breathing technique that can be used to help reduce stress and anxiety. It involves taking slow, deep breaths in a pattern that creates a box shape.
If you want to try box breathing, follow these steps:
1. Find a quiet, comfortable place to sit or lie down.
2. Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths to relax.
3. Inhale slowly and deeply through your nose for a count of four.
4. Hold your breath for a count of four.
5. Exhale slowly and completely through your mouth for a count of four.
6. Hold your breath for a count of four.
7. Repeat the cycle for several minutes, or until you feel more calm and relaxed.
The consistent counting and focus on breathing can help to calm your mind and reduce feelings of stress or anxiety. Box breathing can be practiced anytime, anywhere, and can be especially helpful during moments of high stress, such as before an important meeting or exam.
